Food, Entertainment, Wildlife, and More!

Welcome Nemukelekile! Welcome to Mbabane, the capital city for the Kingdom of Eswatini. Located in the Highveld of western Swaziland, Mbabane is a small city packed with numerous activities. Filled with food, entertainment, wildlife, and more, Mbabane is the perfect place to get a taste of everything your attendees need.

Looking for adventure? Be sure to walk over to Sibeve Rock, one of the largest monoliths (a single piece of rock remaining intact) in the world! This stunning 1,488m high-mountain is a must-see for any tourist looking for history and adventure. On your way up, be sure to check out the multiple boulders, waterfalls, caves, and hiking trails that cover the rock. For those not interested in hiking the rock, there are several scenic trails around the base that give you the perfect view.

Another great piece of history located in Mbabane is the Ngwenya Mine & Lion’s Cavern. The Ngwenya Mine is the oldest mine in the world and is located in a small opening in the Ngwenya Mountain, which is also called the Lion’s Cavern. Over 43,000 years old, the Ngwenya Mine is filled with a rich history of the early settlers who would mine for iron ore which was used as body paint during ceremonies and festivals. You can take a guided tour of the mine, see exhibits, and pick up some photography and samples at the Ngwenya visitors centre.

Don’t miss out on the delicious food found all around the city. Ramblas, one of the best restaurants in the city, is a must for anyone looking for a memorable and delicious dining experience. With dishes ranging from salads to pizza quesadillas, Ramblas is known for using the highest quality ingredients available in the country. It also has an assortment of different wines and can accommodate functions and large groups, so it is the perfect place to bring your attendees for a fun night out! After grabbing a bite, be sure to head over to the Mbabane Market to witness the hustle and bustle of locals selling fresh fruits, vegetables, and handmade crafts. This is a great place to find one-of-a-kind souvenirs to take home.

You don’t have to travel far to see some unique wildlife. The Malolotja Nature Reserve is just a quick 30-minute drive from the city and is perfect for all you nature and wildlife lovers out there. Home to some rare species such as leopards and black wildebeests, this nature reserve has multiple hiking, biking, and horse-riding trails that will leave you speechless. Birdwatchers from all over the world come to Malolotja to see the plethora of bird species that live on the reserve. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the endangered blue swallow which can be found within the reserve. Not only does the reserve have outstanding wildlife, it also is home to the Malolotja Canopy Tour. This tour is guided by highly-trained professionals and is perfect for all ages. Take a ride on the zipline that flies over the Shilotswane Gorge treetops to get the ultimate experience of the reserve.

Mbabane may be a tiny city, but it is filled to the brim with adventure and activities that are perfect for your upcoming event in Africa.
